It is one of the inalienable truths of the specialty coffee scene that word of mouth is the best advisor when it comes to finding gems. That is the case with Samba. When traveling to Athens for SCA's World of Coffee, friends acquainted with the local scene put Samba on our list. At first, it was one entry of many, but when we asked other visiting friends at WOC which place had the best locally roasted coffee, Samba's name was frequently mentioned. After WOC, we were able to confirm this: Together with the quality of their coffee, it is, in particular, the people at Samba's The Shop in Kolonaki that make it our surprise roaster discovery in Athens.
